Justin M. Goldstein is a trial and appellate litigator who has spent his 25-year career successfully representing some of the most prominent individuals and companies in the entertainment industry and the Fortune 500.
Having previously founded and led litigation departments, Justin brought to FROST LLP a general commercial litigation practice built on complex business, entertainment, and intellectual property matters. He has handled matters addressing unfair competition, partnership and shareholder claims, intellectual property, First Amendment, accounting and profit participation, breach of contract and fiduciary duties, and personal service contract disputes. His IP work has also covered copyright infringement, trademark, right of publicity, trade dress, and trade secret interests. Justin has placed a significant focus on media and entertainment throughout his career, representing motion picture studios, production companies, professional entertainers and athletes, while also handling cases for clients in the energy and utilities, apparel, retail, manufacturing, technology, marketing and communications, finance, and real estate industries.
Justin has a substantial record of matters that he has litigated to successful outcomes for corporate and individual clients. His notable cases included serving as lead counsel for a statewide energy company in a dispute with one of the world’s largest oil companies, with $32 million plus punitive damages at issue. Following a four-week trial in federal court, the jury found for Justin’s client on all claims. Justin also scored a victory for a motion picture studio in a copyright and trademark dispute, which included a seven-figure attorneys’ fees award in his client’s favor. Justin successfully represented a former professional athlete client in an arbitration over a multi-business partnership dispute, with a $3 million award that was upheld on appeal. Justin was a key team member that secured an historic $1.25 billion settlement along with wide-ranging injunctive relief over opposing party Intel on behalf of a technology company–one of the largest single plaintiff recoveries ever reported. And Justin has repeatedly obtained dispositive rulings for clients at the pleading stage or at summary judgment throughout his career.
Justin has been recognized by leading law and business publications for his dual roles as attorney and business leader, including the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 500 Most Influential Business Leaders in Los Angeles, Top Litigators and Trial Lawyers, Lawdragon’s Top 500 Litigators in America, and the Los Angeles Times’ Business of Law Legal Visionaries. In 2025, the Daily Journal named him to their annual list of Leading Commercial Litigators.
Justin’s years of experience span both BigLaw and boutique firms and reflect his deep experience with trial practice. At O’Melveny & Myers, where he spent a decade, Justin honed his skills as second chair on matters for Daniel Petrocelli. He also served as a volunteer City Attorney, handling a number of criminal jury trials as lead prosecutor, and in law school served as an extern for a federal district court judge during a significant RICO trial. He is also an avid legal writer who has published articles and a guest lecturer, having presented at USC, UCLA, and Southwestern Law School on matters of law and practice.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Justin spent his early education at the Crossroads School–a tradition his own children have continued. He graduated with a B.A. from Brandeis University, Magna Cum Laude, and earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law. He is called to the State Bar of California and is admitted before the District Court for the Central District of California, the District Court for the Northern District of California, and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
On his own time, Justin is an avid hiker, enthusiastic traveler, and big fan of local LA teams.
